Professional Education Series: Hero’s Journey Through Addiction and Recovery

This workshop will explore the stages of Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey and adapt it to addiction and recovery. We will also examine how this relates to the stages of change and interpersonal neurobiology.

Speaker: Greg Cosby, MA, LPC, CGP, FAGPA

About the Speaker:

Greg Cosby has been in the MH and Education field for 50 years with experience in family therapy, residential treatment, managed care and group therapy. Greg has taught in colleges and university courses such as Theories of Counseling and Psychotherapy and Group Therapy, Amish/Vegas: Polarities of American Culture and Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey. Greg co Wrote Transforming ADHD with Tonya Lippert in 2017. Greg is currently working at a private practice doing therapy and supervision. He works online offering international training of therapists since the pandemic in 60 countries. Since 2019 Crosby Integrative Training offers CE’s workshops for credit for certification. His current project is the development of a therapeutic poster and guide pamphlet on The Hero’s Journey available June 30th on One last Turn Art on the internet.

Objectives:

1. Learn the 12 stages of Hero’s Journey of Joseph Campbell

2. Integrate the stages of change model with the Hero’s Journey stages

3. Understand some of the underpinnings of interpersonal neurobiology in the Hero’s Journey
