The Recovery Village Ridgefield is in-network with First Health as a provider of addiction treatment services.

When someone needs addiction treatment, promptly receiving it is essential and life-saving. Often, there are fears that rehab will be too expensive when, in reality, most health insurance companies must cover the costs of this essential treatment. The Recovery Village Ridgefield is an evidence-based rehab center that works with insurance providers and healthcare networks to make treatment as accessible and affordable as possible to everyone.

First Health Provider Overview

First Health is a national network that works with regional health plans. It’s a subsidiary of the Aetna company, which operates as a subsidiary of CVS Health. The network provides policyholders access to more than 5,900 hospitals and more than 800,000 doctors and health care professionals. First Health works to reduce expenses and administrative challenges for the insurers it works with.

First Health Plans and Coverage Levels

First Health operates as a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) network. PPOs are health plans that contract with care providers, including doctors, hospitals and other facilities, to create a vast network of participating providers. If you stay in-network to receive care, you pay less out-of-pocket. If you want to go out-of-network, you may still have some coverage, but you can expect higher out-of-pocket responsibilities. Along with its Primary Network, First Health has a Complementary Network, offering flexibility so members can save outside their primary network.

Does First Health Insurance Cover Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment?

If you have a First Health Network plan, you can likely use it to cover rehab costs. The First Health Network includes coverage for addiction treatment because these are needed for the health and well-being of people struggling with substance use. The specific amount of coverage available can vary depending on whether the facility is in or out-of-network, your insurance plan level and the treatments you will need.

Does First Health Cover Inpatient Rehab?

Inpatient rehab is often the first step for someone struggling with addiction after detox. Inpatient rehab is residential, so you live onsite during these early treatment days, providing a stable and structured environment. The First Health Network covers inpatient treatment centers, although you may still have to pay out-of-pocket costs.

Does First Health Cover Outpatient Care?

Outpatient treatment can vary in intensity and the types of treatments used. It is more flexible, and the time commitment is much less than at higher treatment levels. The First Health Network includes outpatient addiction treatment services for many people.

First Health Mental Health Services Coverage

Mental health services are often critical to a larger addiction treatment plan. You may have co-occurring mental health disorders that require treatment simultaneously, improving long-term recovery outcomes. Because of federal parity laws and the Affordable Care Act, insurers must provide equitable coverage for mental health services, similar to what’s provided for other medical needs. This may include medications and different types of therapy, like cognitive-behavioral therapy or dialectical behavioral therapy.

Addiction Treatment Options for First Health Members

There are many types of addiction treatment programs, and the settings and intensity of each will be unique. Some types of addiction treatment and rehab that may be covered for First Health members include:

  • Medical detox, where a client receives medical management for withdrawal symptoms.
  • Inpatient programs, which are residential with onsite living.
  • Partial hospitalization programs at The Recovery Village Ridgefield require a time commitment of six hours a day, six days a week.

First Health Treatment Duration

Addiction treatment stays in an inpatient facility are often 30, 60 or 90 days, with some requiring a shorter stay and others needing more time. The treatment time covered for First Health members is usually based on the medical necessity and their plan. The average stay at The Recovery Village Ridgefield is 35–60 days; some or all may be covered by health insurance.
