Although treatment at a professional rehab facility is an effective step toward recovery, it does not “cure” addiction. Addiction is a disease with relapse rates similar to diseases like diabetes and asthma, so recovery is actually a lifelong process — one that’s full of hurdles to overcome.
Alumni services and aftercare support can help make recovery much easier to manage, which is why The Recovery Village Ridgefield provides these resources to all clients who enroll in our programs.
Last year, Oregon residents voted in favor of Measure 110, a bill that would decriminalize most types of drugs. While the goal is to lower incarceration rates, reduce overdose rates and fund public treatment programs, it could also cause some to return to substance use.
Since penalties are far less severe, those who feared potential prison sentences and steep fines may worry less now about using illicit drugs. And for people in recovery, the lack of severe punishment for getting caught with drugs may make substance use incredibly tempting. For these reasons, accessible recovery support and aftercare services are vital for Washington and Oregon residents.
Toward the end of a client’s rehab stay, a team of addiction experts works with them to create an individualized aftercare plan. This plan includes a variety of resources that help clients continue the healing process with on-demand support after leaving the facility.
A typical aftercare plan includes:
Aftercare serves as a bridge to help clients transition from rehab treatment back to their day-to-day lives. Along with aftercare, clients receive access to a wide range of alumni support services.
After completing a rehab treatment program, clients can take advantage of alumni resources like events, social media groups, online services, monthly check-ins and many other helpful tools. We even offer career and financial advising to clients to help them rebuild the life that their addiction may have affected.
The Recovery Village Ridgefield conducts monthly alumni check-ins to ensure past clients are doing well in their recovery. We also host coordinated alumni events, offer membership to our private social media groups and provide on-call support. These services help alumni stay motivated and connected throughout recovery. We also provide a free, confidential online recovery meeting service. It’s important to stay in touch with friends, loved ones and people in your support group, and our online meeting rooms allow you to do so in a virtual environment.
We also provide several online resources to help clients throughout their recovery. These services range from telehealth apps and mental health services to clinical videos and educational videos, and they all contribute to a better understanding of addiction, health and overall well-being.
Our telehealth app helps make mental health care more accessible than ever. From the comfort of your own home, you can connect with a licensed mental health professional and continue your healing process through online therapy. All you need is a smartphone, tablet or computer to take advantage of this helpful service and keep your recovery on track.
Our patient portal also provides clients with a variety of recovery tools, including clinical videos, guided fitness activities, breathing exercises, online journaling services and much more. After rehab treatment, clients can sign up for the portal and begin taking advantage of everything it has to offer.
Both our website and our official YouTube channel have dozens of helpful videos that can help clients, friends and family members learn more about addiction, types of drugs, our facilities and more. Additionally, we offer free access to our webinar archive, which includes presentations about the family’s role in recovery, the relationship between trauma and addiction, self-care techniques and many others. These online seminars are led by addiction experts, mental health professionals and physicians, and each presenter provides a wealth of valuable information.
